Notice Under the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions
This notice sets out, in one place, the terms on which Open Field Haven sells its three advisory sessions to individuals in Japan. It corresponds to the notice Japanese law asks sellers to publish (特定商取引法に基づく表記). Where a detail has not yet been supplied by the operator, we say so instead of filling the space.

- Consumption tax
- Prices are in Japanese yen. The invoice sets out the consumption-tax portion.
- Nature of the service
- Educational guidance. We sell advice and written material, not plants, honey, bees, land or building work, and we promise no harvest, yield or income.
3. Costs beyond the fee
- Travel
- Travel within the Niigata area is included in the fee for on-site sessions. For sites further away, including in Hokkaido, we send a written travel estimate first and nothing is booked until you accept it.
- Bank charges
- Bank transfer charges are paid by the person sending the money.
- Other charges
- None. There is no registration fee, deposit or subscription.
4. Payment
- Methods
- Bank transfer (the account details come in the booking confirmation email) or payment on the day of the session. We do not take card payments.
- Timing
- Before the session by bank transfer, or on the day of the session.
- Booking
- A short call or email exchange comes first. A session is booked when we confirm the date by email.
5. Delivery of the service
- Session
- On the date agreed and confirmed by email, online or at your site.
- Written material
- Sent by email within about a week of the session. The illustrated layout from the design day is drawn by hand and can take up to ten days.
- Seasonal limits
- On-site field walks usually run from late April to October and live hive inspections from late spring to early autumn. Planning calls can take place all year.
6. Cancellation, rescheduling and corrections
- Rescheduling
- Free of charge up to 48 hours before the session, and at any time when heavy rain, strong wind or snow makes the session unsafe or pointless.
- Refund
- A fee already paid for a session that is cancelled at least 48 hours ahead and not rescheduled is refunded in full.
- Late cancellation
- If you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, we first try to find another date with you; whether any refund is due is decided case by case and confirmed in writing.
- Written material
- Plans are prepared for your land and cannot be returned. If something in a plan is unclear or wrong we will go through it or correct it at no charge.
- Cooling-off
- This is an individual advisory service, not a door-to-door or telephone sale, so the statutory cooling-off period does not apply. Your rights under the Consumer Contract Act remain.
7. Other points
- Languages
- Sessions and written material are available in English and Japanese; tell us which you prefer when you write.
- Environment for use
- Online sessions need a stable connection and a device that can show video or photographs.
- Safety
- Beekeeping involves live animals. Please tell us in advance about any sensitivity to bee stings; see the Terms & Conditions.
- Complaints
- Write to info@openfieldhaven.com or call the number above; we aim to answer within 14 days.
